Emma de Caunes
Emma starts her career in 1997 when Sylvie Verheyde offered her first role in Un Frère. Her performance got her the Cesar Award for Best Female Hope. That same year, she appears in two comedies called La Voie est libre and Restons groupés. In 1998, she acts in Alain Beigel’s Mille Bornes. She then releases her own short-film from the other side of the camera called Nombril de l’Univers. In 1999, she reunites with Sylvie Verheyde in
Princesses. Later that year, she acts for Olivier Jahan in Faites comme si je n’étais pas là.
If she appears in the French super-production Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra in 2002, directed by Alain Chabat, she seems to be moving towards auteur cinema, from Les Amants du Nil to the disturbing Ma mère (2003), adaptation from Georges Bataille novel by Christophe Honoré and Michel Gondry’s The science of dreams (2005)
We can then find her in several very different movies where she holds supporting roles: The Holidays of Mr. Bean (2007), The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2006). She goes on stage in The Night of the Thermometer directed by Diasteme, which earned her a nomination at Molieres in 2004. She reunites with Diasteme for her first feature film in 2007, in The noise of people around. She will also be the host of La MUSICALE on Canal + for 10 years. The actress is also the heroine of a television series called, Rien dans les poches, directed by Marion Vernoux, which will earn her a nomination at the International Emmy Awards in 2009. She continues for television with TV movies Sweet Dream, Faux Coupable and Lanester. In 2014, Emma de Caunes returns to the big screen in La Dune, alongside Niels Arestrup and Guy Marchand. The following year, Olivier Jahan offers her a role in his drama Les Chateaux de sable, telling the story of a broken woman who, following the death of her father, must sell the family home. This film earned him the 2015 Cinema Award from the Diane and Lucien Barrière Foundation.
