Anastasia Mikova

The work of Ukrainian born filmmaker and journalist Anastasia Mikova has always focused on social and humanist subjects. Thus, for the French television, she has made numerous documentaries on
topics such as illegal immigration, organ trafficking, or surrogate mothers.
Since 2009, Anastasia Mikova has been working with the French activist, filmmaker and photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand on socially committed projects. Together they directed VU DU CIEL television show for more than five years. Broadcast on the French national channel France 2, its mission was to alert people on the dangers the planet is facing and promote committed and positive
environmental projects around the world. They later worked together on a unique documentary project HUMAN,
the film was released in 2015, translated into ten languages and seen by more than one hundred million people worldwide. Their latest documentary WOMAN is a worldwide project giving a voice to
2000 women across 50 different countries. Despite its very large scale, the film offers an intimate portrait of those who constitute half of humanity. It is an opportunity to shed light on the injustices women are subjected to all over the world, but what WOMAN would like to underline most is the inner strength of women and their capacity to change the world. WOMAN was released in cinemas in France on March 4th, followed by more than thirty countries worldwide. Both HUMAN and WOMAN premiered at the International Venice film festival and got numerous awards at
festivals around the world.
